Tobacco-Free Michigan is a
network of more than 200 organizations and individuals all over Michigan.
We work to prevent and reduce tobacco use and its harmful effects in
our communities through advocacy, education, networking and research.
Tobacco-Free Michigan seeks to promote counter advertising media messages
that de-glamorize tobacco and public policy initiatives that de-normalize
tobacco use, emphasizing particularly more vulnerable populations that
are heavily targeted by the tobacco industry. We envision a tobacco-free
culture in Michigan: 1) where children find complete protection from
pro-tobacco cues and messages as well as from illegal sales of tobacco;
2) where there is smoke-free air for everyone; and 3) where effective,
affordable, accessible help is available for all smokers who want to
quit.
Tobacco-Free Michigan is
a non-profit, charitable organization. Our members include statewide
organizations and health groups, local county or regional tobacco reduction
coalitions, businesses, and community organizations which represent
specific minority populations having a focused interest in tobacco reduction.
