Staff Karen Holcomb-Merrill
- Consultant Karen Holcomb-Merrill contributes to Tobacco-Free Michigan over twenty years of experience in state and local public policy analysis and advocacy. After graduating with a political science degree from Albion College where she was a Public Policy Fellow at the college’s Gerald R. Ford Institute, Karen provided bill analysis and constituent communication services for the Michigan House of Representatives. She subsequently was retained by the Michigan Townships Association to lobby for laws to retain local authority on matters affecting community health, safety and welfare. After leaving MTA, Karen served for fourteen years as Executive Director of Common Cause in Michigan, advocating for government ethics and battling undue legislative influence of wealthy special interest groups. |
